Various people from ISKCON and Gaudiya Matha retell this silly fable with variations, for example: «What really happened was Ananta Vasudeva was seeing a prostitute in Navadvipa, and fathered an ilegitimate child (while claiming to be the jagat-guru and acharya of the matha). When he was caught, he left the Gaudiya matha (taking his prostitute with him) and joined a babaji in Vrindavana (because that babaji had no problem with him staying with the prostitute). Later the prostitute found another man, and she gave poison to kill the son of Ananta Vasudeva (who was around 10 at the time). After this Ananta Vasudeva committed suicide by consuming poison». (с) To which they are rightly answered: «That is one of the biggest fabricated stories EVER! The Radha Ramana Gosvamis would attest to the falseness in that, they are the ones who sponsored Ananta Vasudeva when he came to Braja and helped him in the publication of his books». (с)

The fable that he married a fallen woman who poisoned his son, after which he committed suicide, is the most absurd fabrication. The burden of proof lies with the accusing party. Name the woman, the name of the 'son,' and provide the conclusion of the forensic examination that the cause of his death was suicide — then we can talk. Here’s what actually happened: '...following the mysterious will of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra, the Lord of his heart, he entered household life by accepting a wife. In the sacred city of Prayāga (Allahabad), he married Śrīmatī Praṇatī Devī, the devout daughter of the renowned devotee Śrī Atul Chandra Chowdhury. Śrī Supati Ranjan Nag Mahāśaya, a dedicated servant and additional secretary of the Gauḍīya Mission, was the mediator on this occasion.' Why did Swami Maharaj Prabhupada recount these wild rumors? That was his style. Before leaving this world, he asked his spiritual brothers for forgiveness for the offenses he caused them: Srila Prabhupada: (Addressing his godbrothers) Apanara amar saba aparadha ksama korben, kenona ami iccha kore kokhano aparadha karo chaini kintu prachar karte gele kicchu katha katakati. Haya. Tai apani amar aparadha ksama korben. Please, I wish to ask you to forgive my offenses. I never intended to offend anyone. During the course of preaching there arose some difference of opinion, some argument, which resulted in some offensive statements. Kindly forgive me for that. (с)
